CCLR research has focused on:
the measurement of ocular surface sensitivity, using an adapted Belmonte esthesiometer;
the corneal swelling response to hypoxic conditions induced by the overnight wear of contact lenses;
the use of optical coherence tomography, a technique originally developed for retinal research, to measure corneal and epithelial thickness;
the objective measurement of conjunctival redness;
the measurement of variation in bulbar conjunctival hyperemia, temperature and blood flow.
