Liz graduated from McMaster University with a BSc in Chemistry and immediately went to work at the Regional Cytogenetics Lab at McMaster. While working in cytogentetics she obtained an RT diploma in cytogenetics from the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists. In 1980 Liz moved to Calgary and worked at the Alberta Children’s Hospital’s cytogentetics lab as the Chief Technologist. In 1984 she moved to Waterloo and worked in the Biotechnology Institute at the University of Waterloo. After taking time off to have her children Liz went back to work in 1994 in the Biology department, doing cell culture and toxicology experiments on fish. While working there,she developed several fish cell lines that are still being used for various experiments instead of whole animals. In 2002 Liz joined Lyndon Jones’ and Michelle Senchyna’s lab as a research associate. Liz works on dry eye and contact lens studies in the CCLR.
