Working in partnership with industry affiliates and collaborating with both local and international researchers, our clinical trials focus on conventional and silicone hydrogel materials, rigid gas permeable lenses, solutions and orthokeratology, in addition to the ocular effects of refractive surgery.

Our aims and objectives are:

1. To support, coordinate and integrate contact lens and related research at the University of Waterloo;

2. To foster post-graduate study and research fellowships facilitated by the CCLR;

3. To study the effects of contact lenses on ocular and visual function, and to acquire a fundamental understanding of subjective sensation;

4. To assist in the quest for safer, more comfortable, convenient and effective contact lens materials, designs and care systems;

5. To provide, upon request, consulting and research services to any individuals, industry or organizations;

6. To assist in enhancing the knowledge and skills of eye-care professionals and students by disseminating new information generated through Centre research;

7. To sponsor conferences and special education programs for practitioners and contributors.
